  • UTHEVER® Supplementation Proved to Mitigate Radiotherapy-induced Damages
2023-06-01 UTHEVER® Supplementation Proved to Mitigate Radiotherapy-induced Damages
Radiotherapy is one of the main treatment options for many different types of cancers as it has a high success rate in destroying cancerous cells. However, there is no existing way to prevent the inevitable harm caused by the ionizing radiations on neighbouring healthy cells and tissues. 60-80% of patients undergoing radiotherapy for abdominal or pelvic cancers displayed radiation-induced intestinal damage among other complications.1 Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), the precursor of NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), has been shown to bring many benefits to its users and NMN supplementation is shown to relieve the aforementioned damage and complications caused by radiotherapy.   Radiation induced intestinal damage and complications The intestinal tract is notable for the fast renewal and proliferation of its cells, which results in the organ’s increased receptivity to stimulation from the environment. Patients who undergo radiotherapy for the treatment of abdominal and pelvic tumours are at an increased risk of developing early intestinal injury manifestations such as abdominal distention, abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite, and acute diarrhoea.2 These symptoms have significant negative impact on the patient's quality of life. Additionally, older adults usually have an altered intestinal structure, decreased regenerative and proliferative ability, and other aspects, all of which could…

  • UTHEVER®, NMN’s Modified Advanced Technology by Effepharm- QbD
2021-07-12 UTHEVER®, NMN’s Modified Advanced Technology by Effepharm- QbD
On July 9th, Dr. Liu from Effepharm delivered a speech entitled “UTHEVER®, NMN’s Modified Advanced Technology by Effepharm” at HFIC(Healthy China 2021 Nutrition and Health Food Conference), telling the advanced R&D concept of Effepharm’s NMN – QbD (Quality by Design). As the first Chinese company to conduct clinical research on NMN, Effepharm has been making unremitting efforts in the NMN project and constantly demonstrates the safety and effectiveness of NMN with scientific technology. Since June 2017, the International Conference on Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Registration of Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) has required the use of the QbD concept. In 2018, CFDA claimed that biomedical products that do not conform to the QBD development concept will not be approved by CFDA for marketing. We can see that only drug products under the guidance of QbD can achieve quality control, Effepharm is to use this concept to ensure the quality control of product batches. Under this R&D concept, Effepharm has developed a strict quality management system, considering the product design and development, production process route selection, and determination from the beginning of the research and development stage. As the first and only one brand of NMN raw material, UTHEVER ®…
  • Subacute Toxicity of NMN
    2021-02-18 Subacute Toxicity of NMN
The administration of Nicotinamide mononucleotide(NMN) which is a key precursory metabolite of NAD+ has been reported to have remarkable therapeutic effects on age-related diseases. However systemic evaluation pertaining to the subacute toxicity of NMN remains to be determined.   Recently, the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry conducted a study about the subacute toxicity of NMN in mice and beagle dogs, both of which were gavaged with a saturated concentration of NMN solution at the maximum intragastric dose once or twice per day for 7 or 14 days (Figure 1). Figure 1 In mice, NMN administrated once per day for 7 days is well tolerated with minimal deleterious effects. Upon higher dosage, they observe a slightly increased level of alanine aminotransferase, while other biomarkers remain unchanged (Figure 2). Figure 2 Consistently, administration of NMN in beagle dogs only results in mild increases in creatinine and uric acid (Figure 3). Figure 3 Interestingly, in mice that received higher NMN dosage, measurements of blood lipids, including total cholesterol, triglyceride, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, were significantly decreased which indicated that the lipid metabolic process being prominently highlighted (Figure 4). Figure 4   Despite the administration of NMN was conducted in the short-term, it is…

  • Brief comparison between NMN cocktail therapy and mRNA vaccine
2020-11-29 Brief comparison between NMN cocktail therapy and mRNA vaccine
Undoubtedly, the whole world is undergoing great shock under the COVID-19 circumstance. According to some statistics, the number of deaths caused by coVID-19 in the US is equivalent to crushing two civilian airplanes every day. And scientists have devoted themselves to search for the most effective curing method, including NMN cocktail therapy and mRNA a vaccine. Pfizer /BioTech recently announced that its vaccine was 90% effective. Moderna also announced its first interim analysis of phase III clinical trials of its covid-19 vaccine candidate, which showed an efficacy rate of 94.5%. Taking advantage of this opportunity, we would like to review once again the treatment of a 55-year-old severe coVID-19 case with NMN from the United States in April this year and the difference between NMN cocktail therapy and mRNA vaccine. Currently, most developed vaccines are mRNA vaccines, which target the coronavirus precisely. In theory, scientists make a synthetic version of the mRNA that viruses use to build their infectious proteins. Cells would read the delivered mRNA as instructions for building the virus’s protein to make some of the virus’s molecules themselves. These proteins are independent, so they do not assemble into viruses. The immune system then detects these viral proteins and begins…
